On June 8, Lieutenant Paul Rideout will be honored in Plymouth Ma by the American Legion for his actions at a motor vehicle crash on May 19, 2012. Lt Rideout responded with Firefighters Rick Berry and Brian Latulippe to find the vehicle on fire and the operator of the vehicle pinned. Lt. Rideout shielded the victim with his body using his own protective gear to protect both him and the unresponsive victim until his crew could get a hoseline in place to extinguish the fire and remove the trapped victim from under the vehicle. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of all that responded, the operator succumbed to his injuries. Lt. Rideout suffered minor burn injuries during the incident. Mr. Bob Driscoll of Beverly submitted Paul's name for the award. Congratulations Paul and thank you for your service.
