Motorcycle Accident
9/26/09

The Beverly Fire Department responded for a report of a motorcycle accident on route 128 south bound in the area of Dodge St on Monday September 26. Upon arrival, crews found a motorcycle / vehicle accident with the operator of the motorcycle suffering from minor injuries. Crews assisted Northeast Regional Ambulance with the victim and stood by for the motorcycle to be removed.
Beverly and State Police also responded providing a safe scene for responders to work and to investigate the accident.

The Beverly Fire Department responded to two serious motor vehicle collisions in the early hours of the morning September 26. The first collision occurred on East Lothrop St where a vehicle struck a tree and a utility pole bringing the pole and its wires down across the car and the street. The driver did not suffer serious injuries, but National Grid was summoned to the scene to shut off power and assess the damage. The road was closed for repairs.

Shortly after the East Lothrop St accident, Engines 1 and 5 were dispatched with Deputy Chief William Walsh to the Hall Whitaker Bridge on Bridge St. for another collision. On scene, the crews found a single vehicle into a portion of the bridge. The vehicle sustained significant front end damage and the occupant was unresponsive inside the vehicle.
Crews from Beverly Fire, Police and Northeast Regional Ambulance worked desperately at the scene and transported the man to the hospital. The section of Bridge St between Margin St and Folger Ave remained closed throughout the incident and the ensuing investigation.
